The MOMS Club® of Birmingham-East, AL

the board members

Samantha

President

Samantha grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she met her husband. After living in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, they relocated to Birmingham for his job and have enjoyed making it their new home.

Before becoming a stay-at-home mom to their son, Samantha worked as a head pastry chef for a high-end catering company just outside Milwaukee. Her passion for food still plays a big role in her life—she loves cooking, baking, and exploring new flavors in the kitchen.

Outside of her culinary interests, Samantha enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time outdoors camping and exploring with her family. Since moving to Birmingham, she has embraced the welcoming, laid-back atmosphere of MOMS Club and appreciates the strong sense of community it provides. Being part of a supportive “village” of other moms at different stages of motherhood has made a meaningful difference in her journey as a parent—and in feeling at home in a new city.

Rose

ADMINISTRATIVE vice president

Rose Cook was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia. After graduating from Emory University and spending a few years in Nashville, she relocated to Birmingham in 2019 for her husband’s medical residency. They welcomed two daughters to their family in 2021 and 2024. She works PRN as an ER nurse. In her spare time, she enjoys square foot gardening while listening to a good podcast, running, fitness classes at the LJCC, and cooking.

As a transplant with no prior ties to Birmingham, MOMS Club has been a social lifeline. She loves how supportive, tight-knit, and FUN this community of women is. Her favorite events are book club and baby play dates.

Lauren

membership vice president

Lauren is a Birmingham native who now calls Vestavia Hills home, where she lives with her husband and their toddler. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, staying active, and giving back through her involvement with the Junior League of Birmingham and her undergraduate sorority.

For Lauren, the heart of MOMS Club lies in the relationships. She values the opportunity to connect with other women walking through a similar season of life, to share encouragement, and to create memories alongside new friends!

Rebecca

Treasurer

Rebecca grew up in Vestavia Hills, graduated from the University of Alabama, then moved to Texas for graduate school.

She taught high school physics in San Antonio and became a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her first child. She returned to Vestavia in 2020 with her husband and daughter to be closer to her parents.

Rebecca really appreciates how MOM’s Club has helped her meet and make friends with other moms in a similar stage of life. Many of her kids’ closest friends are from connections she made as a member of MOM’s Club. Rebecca enjoys reading, exercising, and exploring the Birmingham area.

Sarah

Secretary

Originally from Dripping Springs in the Texas Hill County, Sarah moved to Birmingham in 2019 for her husband's medical residency.

She is deeply passionate about creating more equitable education systems and feels fortunate to have been able to stay on as a remote employee for the collective impact nonprofit back in Texas that she’s been with for the past decade.

Being a remote employee and a toddler mom, Sarah was missing having regular playdates. Joining MOMs club has filled that gap and more! She’s especially loved being a part of the book club and getting to know other moms in a meaningful way. Having a group with regular events has been a lifeline for her to not have to constantly come up with fun things to do!

Besides her love of reading and education policy work, Sarah is an avid runner and enjoys early morning Saturday long runs with the Birmingham Track Club where she’s a proud member of the "double-digit" pace group aka the back-of-the-pack party.
